
8 Hr PRE ASSIGNMENT
8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course is a MUST HAVE in order to get your
New York State Security License.
This is a one day course that will give passing students a certificate and NYS Security Guard application to be mailed in along with a receipt from Identogo who does fingerprinting and background checks for Albany. Once the application process is completed, students may go to work right away for any employer while their license is “pending”. Albany will take at least 2 weeks to receive, process, and approve or deny applications. Instructors will give our students information on companies or organizations that maybe currently hiring and where to apply.
The passing of an examination is required for successful completion.
16 Hr ON -THE-JOB Training Course
* This is a 2 part Class *

Part I:
This course expands upon the topics covered during the Eight Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course. In addition, this is a required course once a security guard has been employed (whether full or part time) A security guard M U S T complete this training course within 90 days of gainful employment. If you are not employed this course is still needed in order to renew your license.

Part II:
This training will be an extension to Part I with additional topics such as, but not limited to:
Sexual Harassment in the Work Place, Defense Tactics, Preliminary Investigations, Officer Survival Techniques, Incident Command System, Ethics & Conduct, Court Room Demeanor, Terrorism, Chemical Suicides, Managing Aggressive Behavior, Report Writing, Mental Awareness, Juvenile Laws, etc.
The passing of an examination is required for successful completion.
Students must achieve a minimum of 70% to satisfactorily complete this MANDATED training.
8 Hr Annual Firearms Re-certification
8 hour course that must be completed within 12 calendar months from completion of the 47 Hour Firearms Training Course for Armed Guards, and annually thereafter. To attend the course students must possess a valid pistol license pursuant to NY Penal Law Section 400.00 and a valid NYS security guard registration card.
The course consists of:
3 hours of NYS Penal Law Article 35 (Use of Force/Deadly Physical Force)
5 hours of range instruction and qualification
To successfully complete the course the student must pass a written examination on Article 35 and qualify with a handgun.
Firearms Re-Certification training is done monthly for guards who need to renew their license.
8 Hr Annual In-Service
8 Hr training course for security guards who need to re-new their guard licenses or to remain current. This course must be completed within 12 calendar months from completion of the 16 Hour On-the-Job Training Course for Security Guards, and annually thereafter. The course is structured to provide the student with updated and enhanced information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard.

The role of the security guard
Legal powers and limitations
Emergency situations
Communications and public relations
Access control
Ethics and conduct

47 Hr Firearms Qualification
The 47 Hour Firearms Training Course is for current security guards who would like to upgrade their license to work as an ARMED SECURITY GUARD, or for persons who have received a Pistol Permit and have had little or no training and wish to attend a course and receive high quality Firearms instructions and practice. Instruction will be given in several areas such as shooting drills, Article 35 of the Penal Law of New York State (Justification – Use of Force and Deadly Force), tactical considerations, shoot and move, ammunition concerns, post incident trauma, holsters and weapon retention, care and cleaning, safety procedures and consequences of a shooting. In addition, different types of firearms and their safe storage will be discussed as well. Excellent training course with a lot of shooting drills.
